The M7-M12 Integration Project is being delivered by John Holland and involves the widening of the M7 Motorway between Prestons and Cecil Hills and the construction of new motorway-to-motorway connections linking the M7 to the future M12 Motorway. A key part of the project is the placement of over 380,000 square metres of new concrete pavement, cast in accordance with TfNSW R83 specification requirements. To control early-age shrinkage cracking, extensive soft-cut saw cutting is required shortly after finishing each pour, ensuring that controlled crack inducers are introduced as the pavement cures.
Direct Inject were engaged to complete concrete soft cutting of concrete pavements across the south section of the project. Works took place close behind pavament placement on both day and night shifts, adjacent to the live motorway.
