Project details.

Background

The M12 Motorway project is a major new 16-kilometre, four-lane motorway being delivered by Seymour Whyte, CPB Contractors, and Acciona, designed to connect the M7 Motorway at Cecil Hills to The Northern Road at Luddenham, providing direct access to the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport. Built to motorway standards with provision for future widening to six lanes, the project includes new interchanges, grade-separated crossings, and upgraded connections to support airport access, freight movement, and the growth of Western Sydney’s broader transport network.

Direct Injects client on this project was EMC Civil, our partner company, and the FRP contractor dilvering the construction of three bridges and associated barriers and approach slabs on the M12 porject. Part of EMC’s scope was to cast new concrete barriers along the side of each bridge wich include cast in conduits for electrical and communication cabling. A number of conduits on one such barrier became blocked during a pour and Direct Inject were engaged to assit in rectifying the issue.

Scope of Work

Direct Inject were engaged to complete the controlled removal of concrete from a cast ins-tu concrete barrier via hydro demolition adjacent to the live motorway. The Aqua cutter Ergo-go and a lightweight scaffold frame was used to remove concrete to a depth of 200mm, expose bar reinforcement and provide access to the blocked electrical conduits. EMC Civil replaced the blocked ocnduits and reinstated the concrete barrier.
