The Upper South Creek AWRC is a major infrastructure project being delivered by Sydney Water in partnership with John Holland. Located in Western Sydney, the facility will provide advanced wastewater treatment and recycled water services to support the region’s rapid growth, particularly following the development of the new Western Sydney International Airport. Once operational, it will produce high-quality recycled water, recover biosolids for beneficial reuse, and generate renewable energy—making it a key component of a sustainable water future for the Western Parkland City
As part of our involvement on the Upper South Creek AWRC project, Direct Inject has delivered a combination of concrete remediation, grouting and hydro-demolition services. Our remediation works have included patching and structural crack repairs to ensure the integrity and durability of key concrete elements across the site. In addition, we have undertaken targeted hydro-demolition using ultra high-pressure pumps and hand lances to remove concrete overspill around the base of two large brine water storage tanks. These works were critical in preparing surfaces for the placement of new internal and external ring beam pours at the bases of the tanks.
Our works have been carried out in a busy section of the Upper South Creek AWRC site and the hydro-demolition works in particular required robust restricted access zones to be established around the water storage tanks to ensure that no unauthorised personnel entered the high-pressure water jetting work area.
